भारतात पहिले WAM 4 प्रकारचे एंजिन 20400 नंबरचे दक्षिण पूर्व रेल्वेच्या भिलाई शेडलाच मिळाले होते. "रजत आभा" असे त्याचे नामकरणही चित्तरंजन एंजिन कारखान्याने केलेले होते.
March 1971 : First WAM 4 type of locomotive joined Indian Railway Service. It was named as " Rajat Abha" and was allotted to Bhilai shed in South East Railway. The road number of the locomotive was 20400.
These 3850 hp locomotives used to run with 120 kmph as maximum speed.
They hauled Rajdhanis, Shatabdis and many Super Express trains from 1971 till 2015.
With newer generation's faster, more powerful WAP 4, WAP 5, WAP 7 type of locomotives, these WAM 4 locomotives have to take a back seat and finally in January 2019, the last running WAM 4 was taken off track.
These WAM 4 were painted with various liveries by the various loco sheds they were allotted to.
One such livery is Bhilai shed's ICE CREAM livery.
